Kayamanan

A Certificate Course on Deep Stories of Self

An Eight Month (24-Day) Course to Discover and Explore the Narratives that Shape One's Life

Presented by The Carl Jung Circle Center and Depth Institute of Asia

About
This
Course

Local and foreign experts in Depth Psychology come together in a new intensive, eight month course from the Carl Jung Circle Center and Depth Institute of Asia -- KAYAMANAN, A CERTIFICATE COURSE ON DEEP STORIES OF THE SELF.

This self-exploration course focuses on the Jungian principles of the psyche, its energies and growth, and the narratives that shape one's life. Myths, a Philippine epic and symbols are viewed from a depth perspective. Students discover insights and patterns, enlivening them to express and honor their own unique stories. As the Depth Story Teller emerges, the course allows space for people to find new dimensions and meaning in their work and in their lives.

Graduates can then bridge the richness of the Self towards the world. With an expanded curriculum from its first certificate course, KAYAMANAN is CJCC’s response to the necessary tending of Nature and our world, and the collective need to bring back authenticity and soul awareness as Filipinos.

    • • The participant will be enlivened to explore how this self can be expressed in the world.

BRIEF OVERVIEW OF THE CURRICULUM

There are THREE SUBJECTS COVERED IN THIS COURSE:

  • INDIVIDUATION, THE LAYERED PSYCHE AND THE ARCHETYPES

  • A LIFE OF MYTH AND SYMBOLS

  • EROS AND LOGOS: BRIDGING THE WORLD

SESSIONS 1-8
Subject 1:
INDIVIDUATION, THE LAYERED PSYCHE AND THE ARCHETYPES

It is an introduction to basic Jungian concepts which will ground the participant in having a deeper knowledge of the Conscious and the Unconscious elements of the Psyche. The Individuation process is a key concept in Jungian Psychology and appreciating its unfolding gives one a handle for the inner milestones in one’s life. Questions such as “Who am I? What do I believe in for myself? What is my own individual truth? What is important to me?” are prompts that signal the start of an inner journey. Participants also learn about the Unconscious having a huge role in our lives. Lectures on Archetypes allow one to recognize their vitality in one’s life.

Sessions 9-17
Subject 2:
A LIFE OF MYTH AND SYMBOLS

This subject highlights that we are mythopoetic beings. Within our psyche lies many stories. Stories that have come from thousands of years ago, and across cultures and worlds, are embedded in our Unconscious. The course covers myths, a Philippine and Greek epic, fairy tales, folk tales, and dreams which are springboards toward self reflection, resonance and recognition of the deep stories and symbols that live within oneself. One then experiences the richness of the psyche.

Sessions 18-24
Subject 3:
EROS and LOGOS: BRIDGING THE WORLD

The focus of the last 7 sessions is to connect one’s deep discoveries of self with the outer world. Contexts are suggested: viewing the world through an archetypal lens, connecting with nature from a soul level, and creativity and imagination as active approaches for bridging with the world. A Soul Project that highlights Story is each participant's culminating activity. In the language of the Hero’s Journey, one brings one’s boon back to the kingdom where one resides thereby enriching the kingdom.
